AM Pyrotechnics invites you to join us for our annual Shooter Safety Training Course, a comprehensive, hands-on class designed for individuals pursuing certification or seeking professional training in the safe execution of aerial fireworks displays.
This full-day training combines classroom instruction, certification testing, and live hands-on field experience, culminating in a student-fired professional fireworks display.
Participants will gain valuable knowledge covering NFPA safety standards, Missouri and Arkansas regulatory requirements, real-world display procedures, and practical troubleshooting techniques used in professional fireworks operations.
Whether you are working toward becoming a licensed shooter or simply expanding your knowledge of professional pyrotechnics, this course provides a unique opportunity to learn directly at an active fireworks manufacturing and training facility.
Event Schedule
Check-In
8:30 AM – 9:00 AM
Please arrive during this time to complete registration and receive course materials. There is no need to arrive earlier than 8:30 AM.
Classroom Lecture
9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Students will receive instruction on key elements of professional fireworks operations including:
• NFPA 1123 rules and regulations for outdoor fireworks displays
• Missouri and Arkansas licensing requirements
• Shooter and display sponsor responsibilities
• Safety procedures before, during, and after a display
• Display planning and choreography
• An overview of fireworks manufacturing processes
Lunch Break
12:30 PM – 1:15 PM
Participants may bring their own lunch or visit nearby restaurants. Pleasant Hope, Missouri, located approximately 10 minutes away, offers several made-to-order food options.
Certification Test & Q&A
1:15 PM – 2:00 PM
Students will complete a short exam covering the classroom material. The test is straightforward and designed to confirm your understanding of the safety standards discussed in the lecture.
Please bring a pen or pencil for this portion.
Hands-On Field Training
2:15 PM – 8:00 PM
Students will move outdoors for practical training including:
• Proper mortar setup and rack preparation
• Wiring and electronic firing systems
• Display setup procedures
• Real-world malfunction scenarios and troubleshooting
• Site safety management
Students will also assist in setting up a small training display that will be fired later that evening.
Participation in this display may count toward one of the three required displays needed for state certification.
Important:
Please wear 100% cotton or natural fiber clothing.
Synthetic fabrics such as nylon or polyester are not permitted for safety reasons.
Dinner Break
8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Dinner will be provided by AM Pyrotechnics.
Live Student-Fired Fireworks Display
9:00 PM
Participants will fire a scripted electronic fireworks display using professional wireless firing equipment.
Immediately following the show, students will receive instruction on:
• Proper post-display inspection
• Site clean-up procedures
• Safety review and wrap-up
Course Conclusion
